18th January 2017
We’re excited to announce that we will be attending Showcase in Dublin from 22nd to 25th January this year, where we will be showing off a range of new designs developed in collaboration with renowned textiles designer, Trish Belford.
What is Showcase?
Showcase is Ireland’s premier international creative exhibition and one of Ireland’s largest tradeshows. Held in Dublin every January, Showcase brings together over 400 Irish designers and manufacturers to display their new collections, with featured products ranging from classic jewellery to contemporary homeware.
Attracting buyers from over 20 countries, Showcase has been the premier place for Ireland’s thriving creative community to show their talents for 41 years.
Who is Trish Belford?
Trish Belford is an acclaimed textile designer who has been working in the industry since 1986, when she co-founded Belford Prints. She was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Art in 1996 and followed this up with a range of other industry awards.
Since 2004 Trish has been a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Ulster whilst continuing her design work with Tactility Factory, where she has explored architectural design and textiles, combining and redefining this relationship to create innovative new designs.
Most recently, Trish has been working on a Heritage Lottery funded project ‘The Revival of the William Liddell Damask Plate Collection’, where she has been researching the glass plates traditionally used in the production of patterned linen.
About the project
This research has formed the backbone of our collaboration with Trish, which will also form the basis of our new collection to be launched later this year. The project was borne as part of TextISLE, a new Showcase initiative which connects designers and manufacturers and focused on digitally printing contemporary designs onto damask luxury linen.
Exploring the plates has inspired us to create a range of new designs exploring the unique heritage of the Irish linen industry.
Showcase is taking place at the RDS in Dublin. To find out more about Showcase and how you can be part of it click here. We’d love to see you there.
